Cloudy With A Chance Of Betrayal

Serena kissed her son Lyle as she went off to work. It was a fine sunny day. But it was more than that to her. She was excited.

Her phone rings and as she picks it up, Lennon, her ex-husband, calls in to check on their son. "He's fine. By the way, don't forget to come in on Saturday. He's been waiting to spend time with you." The call ends and it was just like that --- no more pain, no more regrets. Serena has moved on, and Lennon as well. She puts the phone inside her bag, pushes the revolving doors, flashes a wide smile, and greets everyone at the office, especially Mike.

Mike is her new guy. Well, not officially. But she knows she already owns a special place in his heart. He never fails to smile at her every time they cross paths. So she makes sure he gets to see her all the time even if they were assigned at different departments. Lunch break was her favorite. They get to have lunch together, but with a bunch of other officemates. Mike seemed to like her too. He would buy her food and at times, they would hang out after office hours.

"But there's one problem", one officemate said. "Mike has a girlfriend.", another blurted out. "But the girlfriend cheated on Mike right? I mean, if Serena and Mike could get along and be officially together, I think the girlfriend deserves it. Yeah, she deserves to get hurt." "But the girlfriend did that because Mike did certain things when she started to---" "Cheating is cheating, whatever happened, the girlfriend still entertained another guy while she was still with Mike. What a coward." "She should have just left right? Right, Serena?".

Serena never liked Cynthia. She was too bubbly and annoying. She always showed up at their office. Always bringing food for Mike. Always surprising him. "If she only knew that we already went out on dates, she'd freak out for sure", Serena whispered to herself while looking at Mike and Cynthia, when the latter visited to bring food. Serena thought she does not deserve Mike. Sure she is his girlfriend for more than seven years, but still.

One night after eating out, he frankly asked Mike. "What's this? I mean, what's going on between us? Are we? Are we dating?". There was silence. "I like you. I sincerely do. I think you have to decide." "Serena, I-I-I like you too but you know it's not that easy."

"Just decide Mike. We can't go on like this. You have to decide."

Serena kept on waiting for Mike's decision. Still, they went on dates whenever they had the chance. She never felt so happy when she was still with Lennon. Mike was different.

It was another sunny day and Serena was excited to see Mike at the office. She went to his department to check in on him. "She knows." Mike whispered. "What?" Serena asked. "Mike? What do you mean?".

"Cynthia knows about you and me."
